Templates, Speed, Mandrill & Woo – Vextras February Recap
Kyle Hungate • February 28, 2016
What were we working on February? To say the least, it was a busy month for us. We pushed out four new releases that featured several exciting upgrades. On top of that, we’re working on a major addition to our platform in March. Here are a few highlights, along with a cool app that you might find useful.
Fresh New Updates
New workflow templates
Get started with any messaging workflow in no time with our pre-built workflow templates. Depending on the platform you’re using, you’ll now have access to basic templates for abandoned carts, customer retention, and more. We’ve Litmus tested each one, so you can be confident that they’ll look great in any mail client—desktop or mobile. Feel free to copy the source code and customize in any way that you like.
Better logs, speeds & date ranges
We’ve overhauled the logs for both apps and workflows. Now you can use any date range to see event activity with blazing fast speed.
“Test mode” emails
Now, you can set an email address on where you send your messages while a workflow is in “test mode.” To change, go to your Mandrill app settings and then key in any email that you want to receive the test messages.
A tool every website should install
We’re big fans of Product Hunt and find ourselves browsing there frequently. A couple of weeks ago they featured a new app called PaveIQ Spam Remover. This tool caught our eye because it solved a nagging problem with Google Analytics we had been trying to solve ourselves. If you’re noticing some strange traffic sources from Analytics, chances are it’s because of referrer spam. PaveIQ’s Spam Remover allows you to filter out these bogus sources with one click. Now, your Analytics will be much easier to understand and you won’t have to wade through crappy data.
Please note, we’re not affiliated with Product Hunt or PaveIQ, we just wanted to share it.
What’s up in March
WooCommerce is coming to Vextras
We’re excited to announce that a major new shopping cart integration is coming to Vextras. Over the last few months, we’ve been working on our integration for WooCommerce—the most popular shopping cart on the planet. When released, we plan on supporting all current apps and workflows in the Vextras suite.
Important Mandrill changes
Mandrill recently announced that they are making some significant changes to their platform, effective March 16th, 2016. At that time, users will be required to merge their MailChimp and Mandrill accounts into one by April 24, 2016. Also, to use Mandrill, you must be a paid user of MailChimp. The Mandrill service pricing will be $20 per month for up to 25,000 emails.
This is a big change, but for most of our customers this shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Many of you already use the MailChimp and Mandrill apps in tandem, and the merging of accounts on their end should be seamless. If you have any problems, the MailChimp support team is second to none. Also, no modifications are necessary in Vextras as a result of their updates.
To learn more about the transition, check out Ben Chestnut’s (CEO of MailChimp) post on why they’re tightening their integration with Mandrill.
More workflow updates
Our workflows are pretty cool, but we know we can do better. We’ve noted many feature requests since launch and we’re weaving them into each new build where it makes sense. Next month, we plan on patching up a few of our most requested features.
Please keep the feedback coming; what helps your business also helps others.
